I am excited about the opportunity to be your TEA President. Union membership is high, but engagement is low, and many members are feeling like there’s nothing we can do to make positive changes. An effective union represents every member’s voice and every job category. Every person with a workplace issue deserves to be heard. A labor union’s purpose is to advocate for improved working conditions and fair compensation for work. The Mission of TEA is missing both. Clearly, Tacoma Education Association needs new leadership. I am running for president because I am a problem solver. I want to listen to you and work with you to make working conditions better for everyone. I humbly ask for your vote and would be honored to serve the people in our union.

Shannon Ergun

Whether in the school halls, the halls of Olympia, or at the bargaining table, I dedicated the last decade of my life making the lives of our fellow union members better.

The last two years have tested us. We have faced challenges that we could never have imagined.

However, together we found ways to connect to each other, and our students, as we learned new protocols, tech, and systems. Together, we accomplished much, and together we have much more to do. I ask you allow me to continue as your president; building upon what we have accomplished.

Vice President:

Ann McPartlon
Ann McPartlon
Your voice matters. Vote Ann McPartlon for your TEA Vice President.

I have spent my entire teaching career with the Tacoma School District. For over two decades, I have taught K-12 and a variety of genres including Gen-ed, Title 1, Self-contained SPED, and LRC. I have volunteered to serve in our union through your bargaining team, TEA Treasurer, Multicultural Rep, and building representative.

I have engaged in open communication and listening with a focus on being solutions oriented. As your Vice President, I will continue to listen and take action to empower members. We are stronger together. You have have a voice in electing the next Vice President. Vote for Ann McP, TEA VP.

OP Chapter Representative:

Danita KIourkas (Kirk-us)
I am running for the Office Professional position. I bring with me a wide range of experiences from crossing guard to office staff. I have been with the district for 12 years. Often times OP’s sit quietly and go with the flow. It is time for us to stand up share our opinions and knowledge. I would be honored if you would let me be your voice in the union.
